Awesome news.

Banjo-Kazooie

This is crap. That stuff is old news, Nintendo doesn't have any sort of relationship with Rare anymore. Yes the games were awesome....20 years ago. They actually haven't really held up. I don't detest the character, but would have much preferred either 1) A 3rd party character who actually meant something to early Nintendo - A Simon Belmont or Arthur or Strider - 2) A 3rd party character from a company that still has a relationship with Nintendo - Rydia or Terra, Jill Valentine, Phoenix Wright - 3) Something totally off the wall - a Marvel character, Lego something, etc.

Banjo sucks for Smash. Simple as that.

I don't know who any of those characters are. I do know who Banjo is though.

I don't know who any of those characters are except Phoenix Wright. It's obvious if they want to add 3rd party characters, it has to be someone recognized by everyone, not niche characters

This I agree with. Could have gotten something really special.

I think it'd be cool to see Simon Belmont but I feel like Arthur and Strider aren't essential enough to Nintendo's early history, especially since they were such big icons for the early days of the Genesis too. I would, however, love to see the Bionic Commando (Ladd Spencer) in Smash. His bionic arm could make for some interesting attacks and movement options, though he'd have to be able to jump, despite not being able to in the NES game.

ETA: Or how about Rygar?
