Are you farming HBM G? If not, he could get you there. If you are farming G, I don't think he could get you to H, so he might not be worth it to you. I think GR might possibly be more fun for you. Then you would be able to toss TG, SM, and GR out on the edges of a base and let them destroy the core so you can just drop everyone else in to mop up.
Really though I think those shards are better spent on PD skill right now. I believe 10k shards will get you the full 200k points to 7/9.

I can also upgrade my PD and TG with the amount of HB and books that I have. This would do me a world of good I think.

Ok, PD is now 7/9 proc ability. Woot. And I'm going to upgrade TG I think. Seems like the best move

Btw don't get mad at me if your boss output doesn't double. At an absolute minimum, your DMG to the boss will increase by 3.7% (if you just maintained one PD stack, your guys will do 140% damage vs 135%, 140/135= 1.037). More likely, you hover around the 4 stack mark, so your damage should increase by a minimum of 8.3% (260% vs 240%). If I'm right about how many stacks PD 6/9 can maintain vs. 7/9, and if I'm right about how the game's attack rates go, then I think your damage should really go up by about 35%, minimum.
So that's my final answer, your damage in 3 minutes should go from 24m to 32m, at least. Let's see how far off I am.

So is there a quick guide to this game any of you recommend? Ive just started, TH7, and have nearly all buildings upgraded to lvl 7 as well.
I play a lot of clash of clans, where you are supposed to upgrade everything fully then upgrade the TH, but i have seen recommendations that in this game you should be constantly upgrading your TH.
Also - heroes - how the hell do you get decent heroes besides purchasing gems? Ive never had to spend a dime in CoC.

havent tried HBM yet. just raids and dungeons and whatever the hell the 3 bridges mini game is.

Don't sweat the legendary heroes yet. You can do well with out them for awhile. In 30 days you will have both the Paladin and the Druid. Try and get as many of the daily bonus gems as possible and join tapjoy for easy free gems. I downloaded lots of free apps and got lots of gems that way. It is totally random when rolling for heroes. Some are very lucky, some not so much.
Save your shards and buy a thunder god and champion. You will likely roll at least one other hero eventually with the free gems.

I started working on my simulator today, focusing mainly on damage output vs. boss. Here is what I have so far:
Calculates attack, HP, and move speed given starting values and current hero level and star.
Fights for a given amount of time, tracks energy levels and procs when necessary.
Tracks attack buffs, applies them to damage dealt, stacks them appropriately, and drops them when they wear off.
To do, hopefully later tonight:
Finish entering hero start values and skill info.
Implement attack speed buffs.
Enter talents info and implement talent effects.
After that, I should be able to model any team's damage rate against the boss, and thus predict the change in damage dealt based on any number of changes to your team. Hero substitutions, level or skill increases, talent change, etc.

You mean to maintain stun lock? As of now, I'm going simple and assuming the boss isn't fighting back and killing guys. Optimal drop timing to line up stuns will be added later.
Edit: it's set up to be easy to modify drop order and timing, though. The part that will take some time is calculating non-stun windows, accounting for the ever-changing attack and proc rates due to PD, Cupid, and the randomness of heavy blow talents.
