Yep, especially because it's not like we're talking college aged kids that would be stepping out soon anyway.

But i'll keep my fingers crossed.
From Theo Epstein this morning:
quote:

Soon, our organization will transition from a phase in which we have been primarily acquiring young talent to a phase in which we will promote many of our best prospects and actually field a very young, very talented club at the major league level.
quote:

In order for us to win with this group - and win consistently - we must have the best possible environment for young players to learn, develop and thrive at the major league level. We must have clear and cohesive communication with our players about the most important parts of the game.
quote:

We have not yet contacted any candidates or asked permission to speak with any candidates, but that process will begin tomorrow morning.

I read this and immediately called bullshite. Now based off what is written, sure, they haven't contacted any candidates...but they've contaced agents of those candidates.

Exactly. Just like when a coach says "i have not had any discussions with any school." Your agent has been discussing his arse off

Their GM is a fraud

Boston had to rid themselves of several of his shite moves, to get back to contention, and win a division.

Lackey was bad. No one bats 1.000 though.

He really did ruin that franchise...didn't he?

You ever see those contracts that he signed?

He gave a bunch of players jackpots of money. Luckily, they found the Dodgers, who needed players and could easily take on those shite contracts.

The guy is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy Overrated as a GM. He walked into a franchise on the verge of winning it all, and his pocket book reaped the rewards. Cubs will find out in the end, they bought into the hype, and will be put back, even more years when the next GM has to rebuild.

I know and all the did otherwise, was draft pedrioa, draft ellsbury, sign ortiz, trade for schilling and becket. He might be over rated but he's not the albatross you're trying to portray him as.

I'm guessing you're a cardinals fan, and i enjoy the banter, but you and I could do better than hendry (there is a reason he didn't get another job as GM), so if you redact this at least your points would remain coherent in that he did overpay for some players (guess the good news for the cubs is that we're not spending money right now. But if you think the screw the farm system, buy the over the hill players, never trade to make minor leauge gains in a lost season, refusing to believe you're out when everyoen else sees it, is better than whats going on now then its' clear you're not paying attention to minor league development, farm system strengths and all around savy business moves...you tell me what you think scott feldman is worth?

I doubt, unlike the Red Sox the Yankees don't have a core they can hope bounces back. The key with Red Sox was Lackey/Lester/Clay all bounced back and Ortiz/Dustin continued to produce at a high level. So the players they brought in helped but none were a center piece.

If Yankees resign Cano they have to hope Gardner can come back quickly, Jeter plays well, Tex plays above replacement player status, CC has a bit of a bounce back and Nova continues to progress.

Future looks brighter in Chicago than New York for next year as their farm system has a couple guys who should see the majors next year.

Why have you Cardinals fans become so insufferable and so god damn moronic?

I liked it when it was geaux and a couple others that were fine. Back then, we could be jealous of the Cardinals and have a friendly rivalry on here.

Cubs fans can go suck a dick

They bought into the ESPN/Media hype and gave Theo the keys to the franchise. They will be back in the same spot they were, when he was hired.

The unlucky part, there isn't an Astros franchise to save them from the bottom.

Ok so this really is all its about, gotcha, you started ok, missed the big picture, but had a decent enough premise.

Well you've budged a little, because a few post ago it was "[the cubs] will be put back, even more years when the next GM has to rebuild."
