been having pics of several hogs in my food plot. 3 really large boars with several smaller hogs.
shot 2 early yesterday then yesterday evening i was sitting at the plot and could hear them coming in behind me. heard grunting and squealing....then started hearing a low growl sound as they moved around behind me. was a very low pitch and a long growl. sounded more like a bear but ive never seen one out there
so, do hogs growl or was i being hunted by something???

yes, the big boars can make a growling noise. the little ones can too, but it's not as deep of a tone. they also "pop" their teeth sometimes also.

Heard one a few years ago make a loud arse roar. He would do it every minute or two and heard him making his way down a creek. Suspect another dominant boar was in his area or something. I'll admit, it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and i was a little shaky walking out with a single shot 45-70 and small led light clipped to the bill of my cap

The wife's pot belly does, but I would compare it more to a deer grunt than a growl...

So, they were sows.
