i agree with your critique. i am a positiger and miles lover and have been even in 2009. i mention my requisites because the really really really sunshine pumping crowd doesn't like any comments that aren't blinding praising all facets of our game. we simply lost toom many guys and several key juniors that would make this an NC contender this year. we need bennie logan and minter and yes, simon and one of our DE's from last year. if our juniors would have stuck we'd be the best tiger team i can ever remember seeing. however, they didn't and we have a group of guys that are good and have potential but just aren't there yet. really good offenses are going to exploit this and score lots of points. uga's offense will be the best we play this year (maybe a&m too) and our O had better light it up if we're gonna pull off the victory.
I am a positiger, too. But I also keep it realistic.

When everybody was negative last year, I would reason with them and remind them of the positives.

This year, it seems like everybody is overly positive. There are certainly some negatives that I felt like I should point out to keep it real.

I may not be correct in my assessment regarding X's and O's, since I don't know enough about that aspect of football.

But I can tell this defense just isn't up to par yet. You can just sense it when you watch the games.

Last year, Miles would RELY on the defense to keep them in games. Would people here trust this defense enough to RELY on them to win the games? I don't think so. And that's all I'm saying. This defense is capable of playing some good football... I just don't see them as a dominant defense like last year or the year before at this point.

Really? I feel like most everyone is really enjoying the offense but is overly critical of the defense.

We've played spread teams bro. Different type of pass rush required.

Hmmm...a lot of the "smart" people are selling on Fla right now...not buying.

Driskel or however you spell it was terrible. He was their Jordan Jefferson. I can't imagine they get worse offensively without him.

Losing that DT, however, may hurt them. At least I hope it does.

I visited the scoreboard after the Auburn game and had I not known better I would have guessed LSU had lost based on the majority of the posts.

Everyone is up on our offense, but I have seen just as much negativity this year as any other.

reality is not negativity in that we have weaknesses..we won, but allowed 437 yards.

That may beat Auburn, but not others.

They are going thru a learning process delaying their REACTION to plays...they think and react rather than just reacting....the game will slow down for them as time goes by.

I love it. We won, that may beat Auburn but not others. Classic rantard.

??? You do realize that yards allowed does not equal points allowed, right?

While we do have some issues on defense, it's not like we are horrible. We are still way better than an average D, just not up to our usual standard.

That said, who gives a single crap how many yards a team racks up, especially when most of those yards are gained when they are down by 3 TDs.

If we give up 600 yards to UGA and win, are you gonna be mad about it. Well, this is the rant, so probably.

I do agree that Ego has played well & appears to be the Tigers' top DL at this point, and Johnson has not played to the high level that many projected--but the season is still not quite half over.

Jordan Allen has been a pleasant surprise & it is great to see him pretty much injury free for seemingly the first time in his LSU career.

It's hard to bull rush the QB when he is a read option QB.

They have to play contain first or they will leave their linebackers and secondary out to dry.

Learn about football before letting your vast knowledge loose on the rest of the world.

The line isn't ferocious like last year. Last year, Mingo and Montgomery were coming on every play.

Boy that is ground breaking analysis right there, you should apply for a job at ESPN.

This is not a bad defense they just are not the defense we are used to. What is bad is' there are 4 teams on the schedule that can hang 30 or 40 points on this defense.

I disagree. We lack depth, though.

We dont have the luxury of going 3 deep this year.If LSU plays offense like they did against Auburn in the second half with a lot of three and outs it could be trouble.Hopefully we take the red shirt off some freshmen D-line players soon.

Is Freak hurt, because he's playing like he is.

No there aren't.

UGA-doubtful
OM-No way
Bama-No way
Florida-only if there defense scores 4-5 TDs
aTm-OK maybe, but remember what we did last year
Ark-please
Furman or whoever-probably not
State-if we played 3 times

So who are these 4 teams that will light up the scoreboard against us?

1. Freak has been hurt all year but I believwe should admire how hard and often he plays. Can you imagine playing DT with a bad shoulder and arm?!

2. We have given up a bunch of yards and points in many games over the past several years, even in the national championship season. It's the way cfb has gone. This year isn't an abnormality.

3. If our defense plays close to it's best vs UGA and there defense plays close to it's best I like our chances.

UGA, Bama, A&M and OM are all capable of scoring at least 30 on LSU's D this year.

It seems to me the LBs haven't attacked the gaps or the runners, just sitting back waiting for the play to cget to them.

This. And when they do attack, particularly DJ, they take bad angles and miss the play.
