Working from your scenario

quote:

Big 10 would most likely suck up most of the American Conference and some from the ACC. I would move Notre Dame to the Big 10. Big 12 would mostly take from some of the smaller conferences in the planes part of the country. Houston could be a team that could be added there.

Big 10 wont touch schools that aren't members of the AAU, so I'd say they take two of UVA, UNC, GT, Duke. Duke may be a package deal with UNC.

I think the best thing to do would be for the SEC to add two ACC teams should be added to the SEC. Keep them in the East and move Mizzouri to the West. That will give 8 for the west and 8 for the east.

SEC gets two of Florida State, Clemson, VT or NC State.

Big XII moves forward with their eastward expansion taking whichever two ACC schools the SEC didn't take along with Louisville, Pittsburgh, BC and probably Syracuse.

Curve ball comes from the PAC12, who poaches two disgruntled Big XII teams, maybe a combination Kansas, K State, Texas Tech or Baylor gets bold and jumps.

This scenario brings 4 conferences to 16 teams and still leaves a few big names out in the cold.

In all honesty, I think you get 5 conferences of 12-16 teams, not much different from what we have today, the only major movement being Notre Dame being subsumed into the Big 10, after they realize the writing is on the wall and that their bargaining power is reduced.
