I posted this on the outdoor board but then thought this board may have some insight as well.

I know a lot of people bring their dish set up to tailgates, has anyone tried google chromecast for a tailgate? I would assume that you can stream ESPN3 from your mobile to the tv to watch games. Seems that if it works, a lot less equipment to lug out to the tailgate. Anyone with experience on chromecast for a tailgate.

TIA

I just got a chromecast, and it's a neat little device, but it's limited. It does well with youtube and netflix, but if you're trying to do a stream, you had better have some killer wifi. If not, it'll be slow, choppy and unwatchable.

You would need the (good) wifi to stream from a video on your chrome browser, but if you had both of those I suppose it would work.

I don't think you can't stream ESPN3 from your mobile via chromecast. It doesn't support watchESPN app, and if I'm not mistaken you can't stream ESPN3 from chrome browser on mobile. I don't think you can stream from chrome browser on mobile anyway (except youtube), only laptop/pc. So if you want to stream ESPN3 you need to do it from your laptop.

As far as streaming from chrome browser, there are minimum system requirements to have a decent stream. Just tested espn3 on my laptop...it streams fine and I have the 2nd cheapest internet I could get lol.
