49ers didn't draft him to be a paratrooper. As a person he's probably doing something more worthwhile but to the team that drafted him he was useless.

If I were Cleveland, I would strongly consider calling the Redskins and seeing if they would take the Indy pick for Cousins. He'd help them win some games this year, which I know they don't want, but he'd be better off next season than he would be if they traded for him in the offseason.
Stupid, and highly unlikely, IMO.

They're doing all of this for a reason, and that is to take Teddy Bridewater in the 2014 NFL Draft. They have two first round picks, so they could also take a running back of their choice if they saw fit.

Also, consider this: Kurt Cousins would be thrown to the wolves in Cleveland. Terrible team, and he would be learning a whole new system 3 weeks into the regular season.

Their package of picks could restock the team or they could use a combination to trade up and target an impact player

Lombardi has a plan, let's see what it is before we rate the trade

I wonder if Cleveland fans felt like this after they found out about the trade.

I couldn't pass this up. That list is so flawed.

@AdamSchefter: By trading RB Trent Richardson to Indianapolis, Browns now have two picks in 2014 draft in rounds 1, 3, 4. QB of future on the way..

What a stupid quote from Schefter. What in God's name, given the futility of the Browns' QB drafting for the last 15 years, makes him think they'll suddenly find the QB of the future?

It's a stupid move by Cleveland to give up the bird in hand for some QB who might as well be a unicorn given their history.

You dont necessarily have to be good to be the QB of the future

You just have to be a future QB of that team

Peterson would have trouble getting 4.0 with that offense

Consistently? It's been ONE YEAR on a dogshit team.

This is the camp I'm in. And they've already got a top 3 pick more than likely that they'll use on a QB. The Richardson trade gives them 1 player. 1 player in mid to late 1st round that may not end up being as talented or as productive as him.

If they kept him, he makes a very nice 3rd year, well respected locker room guy that's a security blanket for your new Franchise QB. But they essentially traded a sure thing for a maybe. The irony is that Trent Richardson seems to be their best draft pick in years, even if he was too high. I have no idea why people keep acting like this is the Hershel Walker trade or something.

Oh and this "oft injured bust" did get them 1500 combined yards and 12 TD's in just his first and only season. Those aren't exactly grown on trees numbers, especially when 90% of that production is on him making the plays with little help.

Never compare Richardson to Peterson. Peterson ran for 2,000 yards with Christian Ponder as his qb.

Richardon is overrated by most people because of his college days. In order to justify a first round pick as a running back, you have to be elite. He's not elite. He's good sure, but a 1st round pick for him is a good deal for the Browns. They should have never wasted a top-10 pick on him in the first place.

I'm sure he'll end up being fine, but he's not going to do anything that will significantly separate himself from a committee of runningbacks. Hell the combination of Ingram and Pierre Thomas outperformed him last year and Ingram is the worst running back in the league.

eta - and I've never called him a bust. He was a reach though.

.

Is this a joke? You're proposing giving up a first rounder for a 4th round draft pick who has barely played? The Colts may be picking top 10, certainly top 20. Why give that up when you can almost certainly get someone better in April?

You sir, are butt hurt. I'll compare whoever I want tough guy. My point is valid, your QB comparison is irrelevant. MIN has a much better O-line, had Percy Harvin and all around better team. Of curse AP is a better back, it does not even have to be said. I stand by my statement.
