That much more intense than the Red Wedding? That's about as intense of television as I've ever seen.

I'm not a reader. While I enjoy GoT and never miss an episode, I'm not nearly as invested in the characters as I am with BrBa.

Aight, I'm busy as hell for the next 2 months, but I'll start the series in December. I'll start a thread and keep yall updated on the progress.

Well yeah there have only been like 40 characters on all of Breaking Bad. GOT has 40 in the first 20 minutes of an episode

I think they are 2 totally different shows and it is not really fair to compare the two

It reminds me of "Freaks And Geeks". And I'm sure you're saying WTF?

It's this. They knew they were getting cancelled, so they threw everything they had into the final 3 or so episodes. It probably could have ended with the spin the bottle episode which was about at the same place.

Breaking Bad. They get to go out on their terms. But still, they get to throw everything on the table. All the ideas they had to keep it going and going and then condense it into the final set of episodes. This may be the best one overall for the series, but maybe not. This next one may even be better and maybe even the finale.

But finales are hard to please the masses. The thing this show has going for it is that hardly anyone can ever foresee what is going to happen next. So it's hard to plan it out in your mind, the way you want it to end. Especially if they keep blowing our minds like this.

I thought they went into Season 5 with a planned ending? Canceled to me is like what happened to House. They went in planning for another season, but when shite hit the fan they rewrote the last 2-3 episodes to wrap it all up.

Yes, last nights episode was one of the best hours of TV I have ever seen. As I was watching it felt like it was taking 2-3 hours to get through everything, then when it was over it felt like it was too short. The entire episode was an emotional roller coaster. I gained so much admiration for Walt, brought back the hate for Skyler and her bitch sister, gained a sliver of respect for Hank, can now fully hate Jesse, and still think Todd is one of the greatest characters ever put on the screen.

And this is all coming from someone who watched all the seasons on netflix hit or miss this summer while my roommates were watching. I'd come in the the middle of episodes, miss entire ones and ask for synopsis not really caring. I thought the show was overrated. After this last half season I want to marathon the entire series to gain a better perspective on the show, because I know I was wrong

re: Was "Ozymandias" the best episode of television you've seen?

I started thinking of my favorite episodes in TV history, and this one didn't quite fit in any of the broader categories. It's not a finale, but it's working towards an endpoint. But it's a pivotal episode that's downright gut wrenching from start to finish. While last week showed us the Best Possible Outcome (before the Nazis showed up), this was the Darkest Timeline, to borrow Community's phrase. I think the writers showed us the Hank Wins ending and the Everyone Gets Destroyed ending, freeing them to do whatever they want now for the actual ending. They've delivered the two extremes some fans have asked for.

But think about great episodes before, they are usually season finales (West Wing's Two Cathedrals, Battlestar Gallactica's Lay Down Your Burdens, or The Wire's Final Grades) or early "statement of purpose" episodes early in a show's run which stakes out the claim to greatness (Homicide's Three Men and Adena, The Soprano's College, or ER's Love's Labour Lost). On a personal level, as I relate to these episodes, I love the episodes that tackle the death of a parent (Buffy's The Body or Friday Night Light's The Son).

But this episodes doesn't really fit any of those groupings. It's just a singularly great episode in the midst of a run of a great episodes from an already established great show. I think it's closest equivalent is the fake out gut punch of Six Feet Under's That's My Dog, which I still think is the greatest episode in TV history, though that's an admittedly controversial choice. Many people hated that episode.

Ozymandias fits in this group as one of the singular great episodes in TV history. Just a brilliant hour.

Lost - The Constant still holds the #1 spot for me and I hate the way Lost ended.

The crazy thing for me is the love for Todd. Being a big FNL guy, it just seems so weird watching Landry/Todd. Although Landry did kill a man in FNL.
