You want someone back there in case they try and punt it and pin you deep. In that case, you can return it and it forces there hand to either actually kick the thing or call TO and try plan B.

No, but I'm sure there would have been plenty to criticize Miles had OBJ gotten hurt trying to return a field goal when the game was well out of hand.

illegal. ODB would have had to CATCH the ball cleanly in a "block" situation.

This. The ST Coach told Odell to look and see if the OLs were just standing around watching the kick (in the event the FG was tried) and if so...to use his judgement as to returning.


It was an awesome play and well coached.
