Yep. I'm aware of players just showing up to pick up paychecks. I honestly don't see why that's against the rules, though. It's not the schools paying. And it's obvious a lot of companies around here are paying people just to talk about football on this site.
I hope they can get paid according to how much they work for their respective teams. That won't make everything transparent, but I think football players deserve it.

I had the chance to walkon/tryout for basketball in 75. I didnt follow through with the offer. I made the team for a school here in central La. I didnt see any of the aforementioned parties so to speak, but I did see other things.

I knew a girl in college that was a game day hostess. She was not hot at all. She claims nothing nefarious ever happened they just show recruits around campus like a tour guide. Take that for what it's worth.

What PC term would you prefer for college age unmarried girls who sleep with total strangers because they have a chance at being a good athlete in the future?

yeah... i'm comfortable with making that stereotype... i wouldn't let my daughter anywhere NEAR the athletic dept at any university... what other reason does a chick sign up to be a "hostess" aside from wanting to grab her future first rounder before he even shows up to campus??????

Usually it's the recruits getting laid at parties, where it could be any girl. They might not even attend the school. Nor be affiliated with the program in any way.
I know Florida St recruits and players go to Florida A&M parties and get laid. It's fairly easy to get laid anywhere. Especially these days in college.
Yeah, of the allegations against CLM, I find the hostess one to be the silliest. All major programs use hostesses. Some of them have sex with recruits on their own volition. They don't need direct financial incentive to do it. The exposure to these athletes that might one day be rich is incentive enough. Or maybe they're just sexually attracted to the guys. Shocking I know.

I know most folks don't read but John Ed Bradley told the story of him on a recruiting trip to Miss St in his book and said one of the "hostesses" called his room all night asking if there was something she could "do" for him...

I had a friend who went to henderson st, played special teams. he said a coach took him and 3 recruits out to a strip club in middle of nowhere arkansas. im sure this type of thing happens alllllll the time evrywhere. im in the oilfield and you wouldnt be.ieve the crazy things i do with upper management that we just "look the other way"
I saw the ex number 2 guy at a multi-billion dollar corporation with a 20 yr old indonesian hooker last weekend. shite is greasy

no the coach did not.... henderson state isn't even allowed to "host" recruits on official visits as they aren't allowed to grant scholarships for football....
what this would be oilengr is a friend whom would for you to think he was actually "recruited" to play a sport and that said "recruitment" included some awesome story as does everyone else who gets attention from real colleges...

Sarcasm? The girl could very well have been banging all the recruits and lying about it. But like I said she wasn't much of a looker so LSU really failed if that's the best they could get to entice these guys. This was between 05-09 BTW.
