Will this war be Bush's fault as well?

They've agreed to be our cheerleaders while we do the fighting. They haven't agreed to put boots on the ground like they did in Afghanistan.

Where is that in the Constitution?

Perhaps the framers did not feel it necessary to put "do the right thing" in the constitution because it is expected.

"Do the right thing" probably means something much different to you than it does to most.

How is dictating the policy of other sovereign nations, within the borders of said sovereign nation, the responsibility of a country on the opposite side of the world?

How is dictating the policy of other sovereign nations, within the borders of said sovereign nation, the "right thing to do"?

Assad gasses 1500 so we kill 5000 as a response. Assad is a genius. He just killed 6500 of his own people and only had to do 23% of the work.

How many Americans have died in their Civil War?

Once we get involved, how many Americans will die?

This reminds me of Reagan trying to teach Khaddafy a lesson when he bombed Tripoli under the assumption there would be nothing he could do because of our military superiority. However, the folks of Lockerbie, Scotland witnessed firsthand what weak nations can do when strong nations try to bully them.

I'll tell you why,we have a horrible leader who lets his mouth get him into trouble. And although I don't want to get involved,we now have a president who the world knows is a pussy and his threats are empty. Great job Obama.

When did France receive the power to send the US to war?

It is the international community's responsibility to sanction/ deter/ punish human rights violations. The US Being part of, perhaps even the biggest player, in the community has a duty to act.

Chemical weapons, genocide, and other heinous acts are where the line is draw

Why don't we go to war in Rwanda or Somalia? Are some brown people more deserving of human rights than others?

Why? What are we doing about China/NK/Somalia/Saudi/etc human rights abuses?
I never understood why we're so willy nilly with who we attack either.

What is different about Darfur or North Korea?

Where did I say France could, gimp?

Somalia, we did have some role, but not an effective one. We should have taken action in Rwanda. War? That is a broad term, not sure I can say "war" was the best option.

Bill Clinton's biggest regret was not responding to the Rwanda genocide. LINK

Hate to break it to the gun toters on here, but there are options besides kill, arm, dethrone, or bomb. The INTERNATIONAL community can intervene without killing everyone.

Human rights violations are sick. The fact that many on this board take a "not my problem" approach is gross. Isolationism is not the solution. We are a global community, and that fact is becoming ever apparent with the internet and economy.

Does the US have to be world police? No. But it should be one of the chiefs of world police. As for now, chem weapons are off the table (rightfully so), maybe you can argue that the line is arbitrary (conventional vs chem), but that is the current line.

This should not be about regime change, it should be about warfare tactics. 500 years from now, it will be about warfare and collateral (innocent) slaughter unto itself.

Would be nice if the Saudis or somebody else in the region could go ahead and handle this one for once.

Our military was never intended by our framers to be anything but a defense for this country when we are clearly under attack or severely threatened.

It's absolutely retarded that we might be bombing Syria because syria is bombing Syria and is attacking nobody else. This country is non interventionist at heart and follows the principle of don't start no shite with me, won't be no shite with you. Why else do you think we waited until literally 75 % of the world was at war in world wars one and two? We didn't want to be involved in it because it wasn't a threat to us and not attacking us. Now we're looking for reasons to fight a war even going as so far as to making up reasons like we did with Iraq and we saw the consequences of such an act and history is repeating itself 10-11 years later.

Besides being one of the chiefs of the world police is still being the world police.
