LSU - a school. football and other athletic programs are an offshoot of school pride. To have school pride, I think you should have some affiliation with the university beyond "i gots a cousing that goes there."

So what you are ignorantly trying to say is children under the age of 18 can't have pride in the team their family has watched since they were born? Or, say, a kid growing up 15 minutes from LSU stadium and then joining the military and having said school be a way of showing home state pride?

Good God you people are retarded.

I basically agree with you except for this state pride stuff. Every school in La is in La, and you can root for UNO or Tulane for "New Orleans" pride or state pride just as easily. Pride isn't limited to the school that accepts the most student and the taxpayers put as much money into.
Real affiliation with school isn't important.
And LSU is so popular because it is the largest school, and most of all, they win.
