Kahr Mag

According to this guy, it has to do with the Kahr design of using the slide release to load the chamber. Being that Kahr tells you not to "sling shot" the first round, it seems logical that the mag would be harder to set with a closed slide that would require you to "sling shot" the first round. As we know, logical doesn't always equate correctness. Does this mean there is no problem, just a learning curve to operating this model gun?

From my own experience, it doesn't hurt to "sling-shot" load it as long as you use the proper technique. The gun is pretty stiff before being broken in though.

I think they are also trying to cover their asses so people don't think their new guns aren't functioning properly. Someone who doesn't use the proper racking technique would have a much greater chance of short-stroking ( ) a Kahr pistol.

Kahr pistols also have a somewhat steep feed ramp. If you have hollow point ammo or flat-point ammo, it runs the risk of pushing into the feed ramp and preventing it from going into battery. This really only happens if someone tries to sling shot it with improper technique.

When you sling shot a slide, grab the rear of the slide with the bottom of your palm and the tips of your fingers, with your thumb pointing towards you. Then forcefully push the gun with your dominant hand away from your body until it comes out of your grip. This is the proper way to rack a pistol.

But while breaking in everything, it's probably in your best interest to use the slide release for now. The extended mags can also be finicky at times. Just keep on shooting her and see if the smooths everything out.
