Their demolished o-line is horrible. About as bad as the Eagles last year

Wtf do you expect? We cut damn near everyone making an decent kind of money, most of which were way overpaid from stupid Al contracts.

The Raiders will have near 50 million in cap space after this season and can then begin the move forward out from Al's shitfest and build around Clowney.

They signed a shitty QB and should be starting their backup.

I'm 35 years old. I don't think the Raiders have been relevant in 20 years. This is just another typical season for them.

It doesn't help that they have $45million against the salary cap in players that aren't even on the team.

they've been reeling since the Bucs stomped them in the Super Bowl.

the Jamarcus Russell pick was a huge whiff but they've had many others.

McFadden is an exceptional back but he can't stay healthy.

Horrible drafting.

Russell, McClain, Gallery, Heywar-Bey, Huff are all busts and that is without even looking at their drafts.

At this point, even McFadden is a bust. Dude can't stay healthy.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Raiders coaches have accepted that Matt Flynn isn't "going to have success throwing longer than 25 yards." Per beat writer Vittorio Tafur, it's been "clear all camp." That's absolutely embarrassing for an NFL quarterback, of course, but not a surprise. We already knew Flynn had one of the weakest, if not the weakest, arm in the league.

Partly, the Raiders didn't adjust to the "salary cap" NFL, and tried to build there team with the same formula that worked in the 70's and 80's by getting high-priced aging vets which left the little money to build the rest of the team. Couple that with the fact that the scouting dept. was terrible compared to the rest of the league, Al Davis eventually had vendettas against seemingly every coach he hired, and their drafts were atrocious (who gives up a 3rd round pick to draft Terrell Pryor?). This is the culmination of a once great front office man refusing to accept change as he aged, and his sacrificing of the future for years and years in trying to get that one final championship season.

This thread is an overreaction, the saints will make alot of teams look bad this year. They will win 12-14 games.

First, the Saints look like a really good team. Keep in mind that the Raiders are looking at a 5 win season as a maximum, while the Saints are a SB contender.

Secondly, the Raiders are facing some injuries. Pro-Bowl caliber LT Jared Veldheer? Inured. Starting DT / DE? Injured.

1st round pick DJ Hayden? Injured. 2nd round pick RT Menelik Watson? Injured.

Considering the roster was horrendous BEFORE these guys got hurt, it's not surprising that the team looks like a mess at the moment.
