I don't think he is that bad

I used to think otherwise, but I can't disagree now.

I cannot. Radio is supposed to be entertaining. He is not entertaining.

He was really good with tirico and better solo. That fat guy ruined his how because he's so bland, uninteresting and has turned his show into stat talk which is really boring. Additionally, if it is not football season, SVP talks golf, baseball and nothing else which is incredibly boring. Tirico used To shut him up quick when he'd start talking baseball in August and September.

it might just be that I hate sports radio in general...I think the only way to do a good sports show would be with a comedian who is really into sports and gambling. I guess like a best damn sports show, but with funny comedians and coarse language.

Some journalist talking about sports in a non biased manner blows. Sports are fun. The fans are passionate and crazy, why would I want to listen to a guy like SVP or fan Patrick that understands that but doesn't embody any of the passion or fun.

I don't like cowherd because he isn't genuine but at least he understands this and tries to replicate it. The problem is he has no talent. shite maybe I should apply to ESPN. They have a slew of broadcasters with no talent. They get ratings because of the name.

i will give it a listen. I loved his show before, especially during the 2011 season. Those gumps kept calling and telling him how Bama should have beat LSU and Paul kept telling them that they didn't and that Les had Saban's number. Too bad Bama got a redo. I turned it off after 1/9, but did listen again last year, especially after a&m beat bama. The gumps all thought someone stole their lunch money.

Oh man you totally burst my bubble. I will never be able to listen to SVP, or any sports radio, again now that Fox Mulder has told me they all blow.

You could have just said you have horrible/lowest common denominator taste from the beginning.

Mad Dog radio on Sirius XM is what I like. Not a hell of a lot of bullshite on there, except for Dino Costa. Someone needs to gag that mofo.

He does give good interviews.

and some of his callers are hilarious. I almost drove off the road a few times laughing at Jim from Crestwood.

but when it isn't football season, that show is a waste of space. It was nice not having it this past spring.

the show was awful, but the concept was correct, just not for television. Not to mention they just had awful comedians and former sports stars. alot of people got their start on that show, and I will say michael irvin getting constantly ragged on for being a crack user is the kind of thing I am talking about. Who wants to hear former jocks try and be serious broadcasters. If I wanted to do a sports radio show, I would get a really funny comedian and a former star player. both funny, both sleazy and do an entertainment show centered on sports...but nobody really does that.

go ahead, I'm not being a dick, but ask yourself why SVP was afraid to leave ESPN and why their "talent" shrivels and dies once leaving the mothership. It is because of the brand name. Not one of those guys was an established name before going on the air at ESPN save for Jim Rome, which is the only good sports show I can think of. It doesn't matter who they put on the air, dumb people will tune in because it is ESPN radio. fricking Jemelle Hill is a frequent fill in for the oh so formidable duo of hill and sclereth. It's a fricking joke. I always laugh when people shite on ESPN because as things go, it is pretty much they only thing they will listen to. You love SVP, but most likely you wouldn't tune in if he were on another station.

Jim Rome?!? Look, I know what part of the body opinions are like. But that show is totally for guys who wear Affliction T-shirts and slip roofies in girl's drinks.

say what you want, he didn't need ESPN, he made himself and, now is the opinion part, he does about as entertaining of a sports show as there is on the radio. He is a talent regardless of what you think of his show and his numbers prove it. SVP has never and, here comes the opinion part, could never survive without the name "ESPN"

Paul Finebaum is another self made guy, I have never even heard his show and I know who he is and what his format is. He is pretty smart because he lets his callers do the entertaining. From what I know, he is the jerry springer of sports radio, and an exceptional troll. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement. SVP and ESPN, well one party is certainly getting the better of that deal.

Why would he leave? He is at the top, there is nowhere to go but down. Again, whatever your feelings are about the Worldwide Leader nobody even comes close to touching them in their market.

why their "talent" shrivels and dies once leaving the mothership

For the reasons mentioned above. They move to other entities with limited viewership because of the virtual monopoly ESPN has on the market.

Jim Rome, which is the only good sports show I can think of.

We clearly just disagree on what a good sports show is. Jim Rome is the epitome of a douche in my eyes.

Hill is terrible no doubt there but she fills an obvious quota.

Yea, these people are stupid but obviously there are millions of them. Everybody hates ESPN but everybody watches it.

You're probably right because I would probably have to go out of my way to find him.
