Ozmocote (general purpose fertilizer) now, then in november, then in february. Also, top them (cut 'em back) the 2nd week of february. They'll thank you with new spring/summer growth.

Overfeeding can cause the plant to put its energy into growth at the expense of blooms. Use slow release fertilizer to prevent the growth of suckers that are susceptible to disease and insects. If suckers do appear, prune them off.


I've never planted new and never fertilized. This was just what I found. And wasn't trying to contradict post 2

Google "Crepe Murder". I prune mine to look like trees.
