Yeah, I think a part of them showing promise so early was due to the lack of depth, but that said, Donovan was the player of the tournament in that U-17 WC (would love highlights if they exist) and then went on to win best young player at the 2002 WC. We don't seem to have anyone of that kind of quality, and it will be sad when it's over for LD. If I had to guess I think he will probably announce his international retirement after the 2014 WC to focus on his club career.
