re: Russell Shepard getting some NFL pub

the problem i have with Miles is that he wasted plays on stupid shite arse playcalling. Short-side options or up the middle runs could have been better served by putting it in Sheps hands a few more times per game. He will break one eventually.

or just using him, or even Holliday, as a decoy.

over and done with now...

although i don't think Shep is tough enough for the NFL. he went down way too easy many a times

Didn't say lazy, just maybe didn't work as hard as he could have, like the other players do. Why did Beckham, Landry, Boone, and Wright pass him on the depth chart then? With a former NFL coach with the receivers. Dural also passed by him before getting injured. Seems like a pattern. Has to be a good reason for that.

plus he didn't run good routes, get separation or have good hands but that is no reason why we should not have used him more. He was a great talent with a great head for football on his shoulders. Shepard, along with Lee (marino clone), and also Holiday (DE potiential great) would have been unstoppable. Imagine first play of the Bama game: "Lee to Shepard TOUCHDOWN!. second play "Lee to Holiday TOUCHDOWN!!" What could have been. Oh well.

The only pattern I see (If, and a Big If Shep makes the team) is that the coaches failed him miserably as some of us have suspected for 3-4 years that Shep was not utilized correctly. Hell don't we all agree our offense stunk (Point made for Shep). Why is everyone thrilled we got Cam as Offensive Coordinator (Point Made Again)... See our offensive stats last 4 years when Shep was here (Point made yet again).... See who we had running the option short side or long side of the field-JJJJJJ (Point made yet again).... look who we had that could have been running that shite more effective than JJJJJ (Yet, the number one dual threat QB---SHEP!!!)

Do not tell me those few extra balls he caught since he walked into Eagles camp is what he was missing at LSU (Hard work and practice effort) NO, it is talent that he always had that the LSU coaches failed to put him in the right positions to succeed. He should have ran the option and where was that ONE (Just One) (1) (ONE MF PASS!!!!) he could have made to trick some defense?

We played a convict in JJ who proved that by being arrested yet again. JL and Shep would have been money in 2011!!! JL was to get us 8-0 and Les brought in a cancer who garnered 1 first down in the first half of the Georgia game.

I quit as I am bringing back horrible dreams. I don't forget stupid shite that has happened in the past.

I like when you told me when you were trying to make a point.

Otherwise i would have had no clue

ETA its hilarious to me that you guys still think Shepards scrawny arse could have started QB for us or any other SEC team

W93,

Not start for us but spell JL, but don't run Wildcat all the time (Mix up some shit). Let him come in and drop straight back and heave one down the field. (That would get the defenses attention!!!

Then, he could throw a quick slant, with a few options, read options, QB draw, screens, etc... (Mix up some shite dude)

Just saying if he makes the Philly team and he does some Percy Harvin kind of stuff, then I know the LSU coaches fricked up a talented player. K. Williams was not good enough and always in a DOGHOUSE then he played well at Wash and Detroit, same as Steven Ridley was not good enough to be our RB for the whole season or a whole game. Now he starts for the Pats and can run against NFL defenses. Makes you and want to some of our coaches sometimes

so, if he doesn't make the team are you going to say that it is because he's always lacked the talent? because that's the implication here. It seems pretty obvious that RS was not as good as many thought. That's okay. It isn't his fault or Miles' fault for his limited success at LSU. And, it won't be either's fault when he gets cut and doesn't make it in the NFL.

re: Russell Shepard getting some NFL pub

Ridley got a ton of carries, Williams has been used the same way in the NFL as he was at LSU.

Also, some players continue to develope for years and get better in the NFL than they were in college. I hope Russell does too. Marcus Allen was a blocking back at USC for 3 years, as was William Andrews at Auburn.

Shep had 4 years to convince the staff he should have gotten more playing time. But in their minds he didn't develope enough even though he had the tools. Since he will now be a full time football player maybe he will really start developing. I hope so.

You mean that guy that ran for 1200 yards at LSU his last year?

Seriously, Ridley was a workhorse for us, stop talking out of your ass.

And i mean that with respect.

What?

Williams was the second leading rusher every season he was at LSU. In the NFL he played mostly because of injuries in the Redskins and Lions backfield. Last year he had a whopping 3 carries.

Stevan Ridley was all SEC, here's some of his accomplishments his junior year at LSU:

rushing for 1,147 yards and 15 touchdowns in what was his first full season as the Tigers' primary running back ... Earned first-team All-SEC honors from the league's coaches and second-team all-conference recognition from the Associated Press ... Became the 13th 1,000-yard rusher in a season for LSU in 2010 ... The 1,147 yards rank as seventh-highest season total in school history, while his 15 rushing TDs tie Kevin Faulk (1997) as the fourth-best mark for a season in LSU history ... Ranked fourth in the SEC in rushing yards and yards per game (88.2) ... Tied for second in the league with 249 carries, which is the fifth-highest total in school history

Some of you guys just invent your own history to back up your opinions.

He just never came close to consistently excelling

he was our best player against MSU and UGA as a freshman in the first half, as a running back, then was benched the entire 2nd half of both games.

He consistently made plays only to get placed on the bench afterwards. His proper position was running back then move him around after

4 carries for 26 yards against MSU isn't exactly "best player" material. Against Georgia he had carries of 3, 2, 6, 3, and 2 with a fumble self-recovered thrown in. He had one run of 18 yards that inflated his stats in that game. On the other hand, Charles Scott ran for 95 yards and 2 TDs on 19 carries.

RS made some good plays. But, he was not a consistent RB. He couldn't pass block and was limited in his effectiveness if he didn't get space.

Its funny because the what he said is the exact opposite of what happened

People bitched that Ridley got the ball so much and were happy when he left for the draft because Michael Ford and Ware were anointed the next big things after the bowl game that Ridley was held out of due to grades

did you watch the game? We ran for 30 yards. He was the only player that moved the ball for us in the 1st half. He was our leading rusher, and yet we benched him in the 2nd half for a more productive 2 ypc

it wasn't a fumble.

Once again, did you watch the game? Charles Scott's stats weren't inflated with a long run? : Also, Scott played well in the 2nd half. Doesn't mean you take out a productive player and give him zero carries (like Scott vs. UK)

quote:

But, he was not a consistent RB

hard to be consistent when you are benched after playing well. He averaged 6.2, 7.1, 7.4, and 8.1 ypc yet saw his carries drop almost every year. i'm not saying make him a featured back, but he is a great change of pace player who should have been used more out of the backfield the way the saints used reggie in 2006.
