However Shep always had the dimension of having different skills that he could bring to the table.
Like what?
ETA: This is the same board that last preseason managed to convince themselves Lee would not only make the Chargers roster but eventually be a starting quarterback in the NFL, so I shouldn't really be surprised at threads like this.

He averaged 12.6 yards per touch his junior year and 9.7 last year.

I don't really feel that the nega-tigers railed on him. I never felt that. I saw more compassion that railing. jmho
i'm really pulling for shep!

And? Several players passed him on the depth chart for a reason. Because they're better at the position. He's not the type of player who you should change an offense around. We had runningback(s) who were faster and some who could catch better. His lateral quickness was average and his top speed wasn't as elite as some people make it out to be.

Speaking for negatigers, we love Shep. Les tried to ruin his career by lying to him in his recruitment telling him he'd get a shot at QB..
Sunshine pumpers are the one's who hate Shep.

Da fuq. Playing QB would have killed his NFL chances. He would have been chilling in Canada forever if he stayed at QB

And?
In a time where LSU has had one of the most inept offenses ever, not giving a guy that averages a first down every time he touches the ball more seems justified to you? Interesting...

Shep averaged over 7 yds a carry and over 9 yds a catch. However, when I think of a lot of his drops I remember the quick lateral passes JJ would throw behind him or at his feet, or stretch him out to be decapitated by a Bama safety. This past year he seemed to be the go route receiver that was being overthrown.

So you're saying he would average those yards with about 15-20 touches a game. That's like watching Hill score a 15 yard run and saying his average is 15 yards per rush. You can't honestly believe that he should have played over Hill, Blue, Ford, Ware, etc...
And if you re-watch the snaps at receiver you can see that lots of times he ran the wrong route or missed the catch. While Beckham had a down year, he's noticeably a way more natural receiver who deserved more snaps.

Wing and Mettenberger averaged more yards per touch in 2011 than Shep, we should have found a way to get them the ball more.

He had his shot. He has no longer worked with the QBs after the 2009 UF game.

Bingo

The article basically says that he's been working harder than ever before. Staying after practice to train. If he would have done that in college his career at receiver would have been a lot better.

So, let's give a run down here:
QB: despite recruiting videos, RS couldn't hit a barn during practices at LSU. He was at 4th string at best when he moved positions. And, we weren't changing to an Oregon offense just to see if our 4th string QB might work out there.
RB: Limited playing time due to lack of size and pass blocking ability. If he was in the game, you knew we were running or throwing a quick pass. Limited his playing time due to predictability.
WR: short, inconsistent hands, lazy routes. Got passed up by freshman 2 years in a row. Success limited to short passes, screens and running plays from the WR position. Terrible run blocking WR also limited his snaps.
KR/PR: couldn't catch the ball.
We had better players than him at every single position. He was at best the 3rd best player at any position we tried him at. And still, Les tried him over and over and over in a ton of different ways.
He was just not as good as we hoped. It happens. Move on.

Didn't say lazy, just maybe didn't work as hard as he could have, like the other players do. Why did Beckham, Landry, Boone, and Wright pass him on the depth chart then? With a former NFL coach with the receivers. Dural also passed by him before getting injured. Seems like a pattern. Has to be a good reason for that.
Dude. Quit making sense. They don't allow that here.
