1. Paper gains, paper losses. He never had it to begin with.

2. Arguably, he should have spread a bit more of it around, but most of it was always going to be tied up in his company. You don't completely diversify without selling your stake. he was his company and his company was him.

3. He still has $200 million. If he tried to go broke, he'd still have to work damn hard at it to lose the rest.

Down to 200 million? Poor.

And, honestly, good. I hate seeing one person with that much money(and no, I don't hate capitalism).

How the frick do you manage to lose 34.3 billion dollars? It just doesn't seem possible. Shouldn't he invest his money in multiple places? Who is this dude's financial advisor? I'm sure he's probably dead by now for losing 34.5 billion.

sounds like he basically has a hell of a big oil/gas company and it tanked...not suprising in an industry as volitile as energy...

also sounds like he is quite a toolbag, so I am ok with him getting a dose of reality...

He has a billionaire lifestyle to go with the 200 mn. Mansions, private jets, boats to upkeep. I give the 200M 5 years. Tops.

true but I think I read he was leveraged beyond just owning a majority of the company. He risked everything.
