I would definitely try to move her away from the old cup and saucer grip if at all possible. Wrap that weak hand and get that thumb pointed down range.

I bet she will. Those little Bersa's have quite a kick because they are so small. A full size 9x19 has less recoil so she should be able to shoot the same way. If the is comfortable with it I wouldn't change a thing.

Hmm. Interesting info there Dan. Definitely worth trying...certainly would be simpler.

The butthurt LEO was bellyaching that she had an unfair advantage because she was firing a .380 and he was using a a 9 mm. I had to point out that he only had 1 mag change (hi-cap mag), whereas my girl had 2 mag changes (7-rd mag) in the same amount of time.

Billy Bad-arse's Glock got owned by a little Bersa!

I actually may go back to this with my new little LC9. Reason being, my thumbs are big and along side, or anywhere affects my trigger pull. Gonna experiment this weekend, but may just grip with trigger hand and use left as a "table"?? Any thoughts ?

The major advantage of getting rid of the cup and saucer grip is for recoil management and getting your site alignment back quickly.

With these little carry guns y'all are talking about it may be a little awkward to have that weak hand so far forward, but it is definitely counterproductive to use that cup and saucer.

Good deal, I love it. Mine smoked her pretentious grandfather with his own gun. He's still butt hurt.

Love it!

When my wife and I were at the range with our concealed carry class, more than one guy stopped and said something like, man she's good, how often do y'all shoot? lol

It was interesting seeing how different people responded to having their arse handed to them by a 14-yr old girl.

The arrogant guys acted indignant, the LEO made excuses, but the soldiers were very supportive with hoots, hollers, and congratulatory high-fives to make her really feel special. I was really proud of those guys.

My problem is my left thumb ANYWHERE on the side bothers long trigger pull of trigger finger. That's why I might go back to my little boy table style with this one particular gun.

I am not a believer in one size fits all as far as shooting goes. Years ago you were considered to be a fool if you didn't use the Weaver stance and now it is no longer taught. I have seen many people shoot VERY well using the teacup and the Weaver. Should they be forced to change after all these years?

I mostly agree, but that saucer grip just seems so weak to me.

The weaver stance still cracks me up. I've never used it. You know it was adapted by Weaver because he had some kind of handicap with his strong arm so that's why he used it. Not only does it expose that weak side underarm, but it's uncomfortable as hell.

I've always shot with a modified isosceles strong side foot set just a little back.

**Assuming your right hand is your strong hand.

Grip the gun like you normally would with your right hand. Bring your left hand up take your 3 middle fingers and rest them in the "notches" between your fingers on the right hand. Your left pinky will be slightly below your right hand. If you don't like your thumb pointing down range just simply rest it on the back of your right hand. Don't put any pressure on your shooting hand you will push your shots down if so.

Shouldn't have any issues with the LC9 though. My backup is an LCP it's uncomfortable to shoot.

My dad has taught thousands of people to shoot and he swears to this day women are much easier to teach to be great shots. They listen, they don't usually have bad habits that have to be corrected, they don't have ego issues with having some guy teach them, so they get it right from the beginning and have a better chance of being very good, very quickly. Grats on her! He used to do that with me when I was a little kid shooting shotgun vs his buddies that were skeet shooters that didn't know better than to go up against a ten year old with an unlimited supply of ammo at his disposal. They never had a prayer. Wish I could still shoot like that, lol.

Some women are just naturals. My sister could shoot the lights out from the first time we took her shooting.

I bet you are a proud poppa! You need to show that target to any future boyfriends. When they ask if that is your target tell them that it is hers!
