What are some of the better areas in the 300k-400k range?

I can't speak for walker, 210 should go a long way compared to BR.

300-400k, Woodgate or Oak Hills. There are some really nice places off of highland and off of perkins around town

What areas are best for you depends on different criteria.

1. Where will you be commuting to. This is important even in a little city like BR because you dont want to live in Zachary and work in South Baton Rouge and you don't want to live in Prairieville and work in North Baton Rouge.

2. Do you require a large yard?

3. Do you want to live "in the thick of things", or in a more urbanized area? Or do you prefer suburban neighborhoods and don't mind a commute?

4. Schools. Do you have children and if so, do you plan on sending them to private schools?

Also, check about flood zones/insurance before you buy.

Lake at white oak, the woods, etc. Far SE EBR Parish.
