Anybody else think the B1G messed up the new divisions set to begin in 2014?

They aligned it East-West:
tOSU
Mich
PSU
Mich st
Maryland
Rutgers
Indiana
Illinois
Iowa
Minnesota
Northwestern
Nebraska
Purdue
Wisconsin
Looks like PSU, MSU, UM, tOSU will battling it out as the class of the conference and the winner gets to go play the sacrificial lamb from the west. ON that note, it looks like Nebraska or Wisky will run shite and always be in the championship game.

That makes more sense. You can't make divisions based on success when success is cyclical.

Better to have an Oklahoma/Texas situation where the winner of that game is the favorite to win the conference than to have to play each other again. If and when PSU gets good again, I wish they would scrap the geographical moniker and flip PSU to the other side.

Typically, i'd agree with you. But, take a look at the factors.
Michigan, tOSU, PSU, and MSU all have infinitely better recruiting options than Purdue, Iowa, and Minnesota will ever have.

You do realize that Wisconsin has won the last 3 big ten titles right? So how are the a sacrificial lamb?
I think the alignment is pretty fair

It's all cyclical. The Big 12 is a perfect example. When they formed that conference going into 1996 the North was a powerhouse with Nebraska, Kansas State, and Colorado as top 10 teams in the nation. All of a sudden, a few upsets here or there, and power shifted to the South with Texas and Oklahoma dominating and A&M, Tech, and Okie State battling for a top 10 ranking.
In due time, things will change.

While that's accurate, they still all recruit the same kids for the most part. So it's not like they're all going to run shite at one time. It's impossible. Like why Bama, Auburn, UGA, and Tenn can't all be good at the same time.

True. Looking at facilities and recruiting bases, it's easy to predict that the teams most likely for long-term success are in this order:
OSU
2a Mich
2b PSU
MSU
Nebraska
Rutgers
Illinois
Out of the top 7, only 2 are from the west and the top 4 are from the east.

This, but they don't want to separate MSU and UM and they don't want to have the OSU vs UM rematch in the championship game.

Exactly. ACC tried this and it has been a disaster.

Long.....term is the key operator here. Wisky's coach just left because they're not willing to pay money for top notch asst coaches. Wisky only made the B1G last year because OSU was ineligible and PSU was stricken down with penalties and scandal.
The only reason they were good before is Barry Alvarez and then Bob bostad. When Bostad and Doering both left Bielema he fell on his face.
Now Andersen is a good coach, but I think PSU, MSU, UM, and tOSU all have better facilities and recruting bases. Wisky is right after though along with Nebraska. If Illinois spent money, they could be a major player too.

I think 3 of them can be good at the same time.
When this scandal blows over for PSU, they have the east coast, MD, and VA to recruit.
OSU and Mich have enough kids between them to split and be good. MSU is the odd man out. However, if PSU fails to take advantage of NJ, MD, DC, and VA, then OSU and UM will and MSU will reap the in state Michigan kids like they did when Rich rod let Dantonio have them all.
Plus, GA, FL, bama, and SC can be good at the same time.

They'll continue to compete for championships. Just as Iowa and Nebraska and Minnesota will. Long Term. It's all cyclical right?

I think you're underestimating the impact that the truckloads of money from the Big Ten will have on Rutgers and Maryland and their recruiting efforts.
These things work themselves out.

Because they aren't all going after the same exact kids.
