If its a small one year contract I just don't see how anyone could complain about this move
If it doesn't work out then we don't have any cap space for 12 months on a team that we already probably weren't signing anyone else
And if it happens then Lance Thomas loses a bench spot

Honestly I'd be fricking pissed if we traded Smith in some sort of a S&T just to take a risk on Oden

Lance Thomas was a beast last night in summer league play. As much of a beast as you can be with the athleticism he was born with.

Gifs aside, I feel that we, as an organization, are at a point in our building process that we can take a chance on a player like Greg Oden. I think that if he doesn't work out next year the overall win/loss record for this team will be unaffected. (or minimally affected)

Not anymore. It seems like Demps is prepared to risk more than a roster spot and minimum contract which means he thinks there's something to be salvaged and he has access to a lot more information than we do.
