re: How much of your paycheck do you put into savings?

I was probably in my early 30's, with 2 kids when I started putting half my paycheck away. I'm 40 now. As far as emergency fund, I don't really think about having a certain amt. I try to make sure I have enough in savings to make sure that if I make a big purchase(car), that I still have enough to cover a couple months of bills. My current vehicle is 7 yrs old and I will drive it till the wheels fall off.
