We tried to watch it. I enjoyed the episode with them trapped on the airplane.
What turns me off is the characters have an amazing lack of self awareness. Couple that with the preachiness, the staccato style conversations, the fake anxiety/drama in each episode and I lost interest and quit watching
When you hear Dennis Miller, SVP & Russillo or Dan Patrick it is readily apparent that certain media types are very self aware. they constantly make fun of each other and themselves and it is charming. There is nothing charming about Newsroom. It feels like Sorkin believes if he makes his characters self aware then he somehow diminishes their impact but i think he misses the boat. if he makes his characters more real, then their successes and failures and angst become more real to us too.
