Hold the fort, in many cases the African tribal chief sold the person into slavery. Still aint right, but at least know your history.

Thanks for bringing out the true colors of some of the OT yet again.

Explain this comment please. From what I have read so far most people expect this young woman to act appropriatly in a courtroom and to take these matters seriously.

So far she has done the opposite.

And although she had repeatedly said she did not want to be a witness...Rachel took the stand for all the right reasons.

At least the second time I've read this type of moronic comment. Like she is some sort of brave hero for taking the stand when she didn't "want to." She took the stand because she didn't have a fricking choice- the state subpoenaed her. In 12 years of litigating, 98% of the witnesses I've been involved with haven't wanted to be there either.

From wash times. . . a black journalist

quote:

This excuse is not only lousy, but lazy. Some critics of Rachel Jeantel may have come from the bottom, some may come from a middle class background, while others may even be upper class. But here is what we all have in common: Parents (single and otherwise) who made sure that no matter how down and fly we were at home, we knew how to interact, engage, and compete outside of the home. This is a necessary component in finding success for any person of any background or race. Knowing this was one way to ensure you did not stay at the bottom, and you were not limited in your opportunities.

quote:

My mother would say, “You can talk like that here, but don’t you embarrass me outside the house.” I took this seriously, and so did many of my peers, but no longer. Now when young people tank themselves, instead of honestly looking at the reasons and the whys, we blame the critics.

Do I get any credit or reparations for black people's ancestors that kidnapped other black people's ancestors and forced them to perform labor without any rights or compensation?

The point is the majority of slaves that were sold from Africa were purchased by white males who needed them to farm their crops and make them rich. To dumb this down for you, go watch Leo Dicaprio's character in Django Unchained and you'll understand.

I think we (as a white society) need to set a higher standard for ourselves and occasionally attempt to sympathize and empathize with people such as Rachel.

Not sure if this has been said already, but this might be the most racist thing said in this thread.

Whites need to set a higher standard for themselves and have sympathy on blacks, who, according to your logic, have lower standards? What kind of superiority complex do you think white people should have exactly? True racism right there.

Good God man.

This article does a great job explaining Rachel Jeantel

That article was the most infuriating, apologist, double-standard, bull shite I've ever read.

Jeantel is an uneducated, ignorant racist, who has zero respect and an obvious disdain for the court...even though it offers an avenue (I would think in her mind) for her to get "justice" for her friend. Keepin it real has gone wrong for this girl, and now she's a laughingstock. Part of that's on the prosecution team...Jeantel is their star witness, did they prepare her for any of this? Or did they rustle her out of her home that very morning to come testify. Their star witness has blown up their own case.

Why the frick would I want to watch fictional bull shite when I know the non-fictional truth. Lets get real dumb now with this statement:
quote:

slaves that were sold from Africa were purchased by white males who needed them to farm their crops and make them rich.
Who the frick was doing the selling, the Tribal Chief you idiot. Like I said, still wasnt right, but it is what it is.

As white folks, we have to stop delegitimizing others perceived racism.

We can't walk in there shoes. We will never experience it and history shows, that in this country, we have always and continue to be the aggressors on bad race relations.

How about we just take their word for what it is for once, hear them out and offer our modern and sincere viewpoint on I
