It probably is, but this style of earbuds w/ mic can be decent or at least serviceable for anyone wanting to get their feet wet with online gaming.
But if you gave me the option of using the PS4 solution or screaming over my kids, wife, and dog, hoping the Kinect mic is picking up what I'm saying, I'll take the PS4 option over the Xbox One "solution."
ETA: For what it's worth, if I was seriously going to play online, I'd buy a headset for either system.

It probably will be a POS, I just hope it is more comfortable than that shitty one they threw in with socom for ps3
