I am sure the "small ball" park in Omaha probably favored the style of ball UCLA normally plays but I am pretty sure that "small ball" style works everywhere in any kind of park. They had to have a successful regular season, win a regional, win a super regional just to get to Omaha. Pretty sure the majority of those parks are nothing close to what the new park in Omaha is dimension wise. Their coaches and players seem to be successful regardless of the ball park. They had key hits, great strategy, great focus, no nerves. Sounds like championship caliber team to me.

UCLA was only able to win it because they fed off Guillot's intensity

Why do we have threads on the Tiger Rant to praise the play of UCLA? They won the National Championship. Good for them. It really isn't LSU news anymore.

Yes UCLA was the best team and won it all but if college baseball has to turn in to small ball to win it and everyone starts going towards that, college baseball loses. People like points and action. They also like how 1 swing can change a game. Those of us who actually use to pitch and understand the importance of keeping pitches down in the zone, rather than intentionally putting them in the zone because tey know the bats will allow the park to hold it in, gets frustrated watching bad pitching get rewarded.
In the 90's great pitchers were hurt but mediocre hitters with a awesome bats. Now good to great hitters look bad against subpar pitching.
If you hang a curve ball, you should pay.
If you throw high in the zone, you should pay.
If you crush a ball, you should be rewarded.

Now you'll see kids start turning down college ball to go straight to the Pro's if this continues.

Fricking groundbreaking. Please, for the sake of all of us, quit your day job and work for ESPN. They need you.

WE need you.

Regular season says "hi". Omaha shouldn't play out like a completely different sport... It should at least be representative of how the teams performed in the regular season.

they played the best, and got the benefit of the park.

LSU would beat them 6 of 10 times at the box.

6 of the their first 13 runs in Omaha were unearned.

Instead of saying they were the best, I would say they were the least bad.
