I don't understand the butthurt people have over folks who enjoy wine and are able to talk and describe favors and even free associate when talking about their personal take on a certain wine. Seems like there's a self-conscious element at play here among the folks who think every single wine in the world tastes the same and people who think different are snobs or full of shite or both.
That's not just with food and wine, but with a lot of things in life as a rule. People get mad when they don't understand something, or don't identify with it., but rather than become interested and go on a quest of their own, they ridicule others.
Like wine? Snob
Like fine dining. Pretentious
Like dressing nice? Trying to be better than others
Dress different from them? Hipster
Like organic food or sustainable gardening? Hippie.
And all are almost certainly liberal, and most definitely gay.
See the pattern developing here?

Not that it's so black and white, Mike, but you are pretty spot on there. It's quite transparent and obvious too most times. People need to open their minds and step outside their comforts zones. Or at least have the maturity to not judge people who do. Maybe it stems from their own insecurities about not being able to or being too lazy to try.

Loved your post.
I'm not sure all of that applies in real life, but it sure as hell applies on this message board.
