I'm heading to California this week to check out the Cardinals vs. A's series in Oakland (staying in San Fran though).

Trying to knock this stadium off my list of parks before they move out of this shite hole.

Any cool things to do or see at the Coliseum or around the area? I've heard it's kind of in a shitty area (like Turner Field) and there isn't much around but tailgating, but figured I'd come here and see what the MSB has to say.

Grew up going to A's and Warrior games all the time. When my dad was the head pro at a club in the Bay area, a member was director of security, so we always went.

Take Bart to the game, walk over the ramp. Attend game, take Bart away. Best advice I can give. The only decent thing in Oakland is jack London square, and even that isn't very good

If you want to do things in the East Bay before the game, you can check out Berkeley, which is also accessible from BART. You don't want to hang out around the Oakland Coliseum.

No need to hate on you for wanting to see the coliseum. I am the same way. Sometimes it's nice for a blue collar atmosphere. Hell, one of my best experiences was at the Kingdome in Seattle.

As has been said. Just go to the game then leave that area. Nothing happening there. Anytime I go there I'm normally sporting their opponents colors (Angels or Saints) so I am sure your experience will be more calm than mine.
