Could be a fun movie
but...
Will Smith Not In 'Independence Day 2,' Director Roland Emmerich Says
Hopefully his son won't be in it.
It will be 19 years after the original movie was released. I wonder how audiences today will receive it compared to the audiences of 1996.

His character's girlfriend in movie did have a young son. Gotta hope they don't pick Will Smith's son to portray the older version of the son in sequel.

Hollywood is pissing me off. Why make a "sequel" if it has no real connection to the original source material?
Sure, lets make a ninja turtles movie that has nothing to do with the comics/original stories aside from the fact that they are turtles, and are apparently going to be ninjas.
Lets make a GI Joe movie that has nothing to do with the source material, including taking away the fact the GI Joe is an uniquely American term.
