You are right, I forgot to add that. If you go on LFC's page and read the comments, fans are legitimately griping about it. The first concrete steps after countless attempts have fallen through and they still aren't happy. It's hilarious

yeah, some people will never be happy... I'm sure there are a few, in the midst of a title run, CL qualification and actually moving forward with stadium renovations, still want FSG out...

Personally, I feel like a team's first priority should be its domestic league, then the European Championship.

You're in the massive minority. CL >>> Domestic league and it's not really close. The only possible exceptions are situations like Liverpool who have gone so long without winning a domestic title but have recently won in Europe.

I can certainly understand the sentiment. I recently caught up on the Men in Blazers podcast and they would disagree with you. I know they certainly aren't an authority on a matter of opinion, but for the sake of spirited conversation they ranked it as:

1) Premier League
2) UCL
3) Qualification for UCL
4) FA Cup
5) Carling Cup

This obviously varies league to league, as Ajax winning the UCL would be much more prestigious than their winning the Eredivisie.

As Liverpool and Chelsea fans, we obviously prioritize that which is most attainable. For Chelsea, both are attainable. Which is why I would question the supposed decision to field a weakened squad. I think Mourinho is being the special one and playing mind games.

I'm just saying at the start of the season almost any fanbase in any league would choose European glory over domestic given the option.

Mathematically yes, but not really.

Probably, and I doubt he really will field a significantly weaker squad but I think deep down it's what he would prefer to do.

It's the same thing with LSU football too... No matter what the team does, there will always be those idiots calling for Les Miles/Joe Alleva to be fired.

I became an LFC fan around 2008 and it's become all encompassing. My other hobby is following Tiger football and I had no idea how similar the fan bases were but you're above comment is indicative of the two.

“If you are Mohamed Salah, who has been brought in for big money, or Andre Schurrle, who was £20million, or Frank Lampard – if guys like that are out there I don’t think you can call their team weaker."

Quote from Rodgers. We ready.

Ugh, frustrating day but still have everything to play for, Palace is hot and hosting City, anything but a win for them and hey we're right back where we were to start the day
