I should be getting commission for this. At this rate the SB's LFC supporters might as well sponsor a transfer

I have been playing around the SECr for for a couple years but haven't really looked much at some of the other forums at TD outside the MSB.

Glad I followed SVB over here to the Soccer board. Many of my match days and soccer talk were spent on Bigsoccer forums. It's cool to see all this banter here. It's great.

Last season's thread made it 8268 posts and 414 pages. Longest thread ever on this board. Gonna top it this season

Nice. I'll definitely chip in.

It's time for CL footie for this club.

St Louis is FULL of Arsenal and Chelsea fans...it makes me sick

Always nice to have another opinion in the thread.

CL football is coming. But I think 14/15 is the season where we will really challenge for it.

This is a great board. Match days are amazing on here. Good banter and a lot of quality posters.

If you ever make your way to New Orleans on a match day weekend, make sure to stop into Finn's. Several of us are regulars there, and it is an absolutely incredible atmosphere to watch matches.

That's about what I was thinking. I'd like to see Sterling sub in up front too at some point.

Thanks.

It's been a long time since I have been in N.O. In fact it was for the Rams Saints playoff game in 2001. Good times.

We have a pretty hardcore following of the prem here in St Louis as well. If you ever make it up this way make sure to pop into LINK and come see us here as well.

I agree that a top 4 spot might be wishful thinking thinking this year but I'm holding out hope and I'm not sold on Spurs and Arsenal..you never know lol

I have more faith than Beast, but then again I'm notorious for my blind faith. I think if the CB issue is shored up we'll make it.

Yea, thought Coates was gonna be an answer but you just never know.

Agger is very solid. Skrtel just fell of of a cliff 1/4 through last year.

The season was kind of lost to a top 4 finish so it was kind of cool to see Carragher get big minutes on his fairwell.

Yeah strange how he went from LFC player of the year to the bench. Hopefully it was a fluke, and he'll come back to form. Kolo can be the stop-gap until either that, or Kelly is ready to step up. Either way, if that can act as a solution to the sieve-like defense, we should be good to go this year. God knows we can score the goals, we just need to find a way to keep them out. A healthy and more in form Lucas will certainly help too.

Lucas healthy is a key. Got to have that backbone from back to front solid, healthy and in form.

His injury issues have also thrown the mid into disarray. I don't mind Allen filling that role but the club is better through the middle when Lucas Is healthy and holding.

Gonna need to figure out a long term answer for CB. Toure is. Depth signing an expecting him to give big mins is just asking for troubles.

Not exactly. Change of system. Under Kenny the line was much deeper and the fullbacks attacked a lot less. Skrtel was so successful in it because there was naturally a lot less emphasis on individual positioning. He could make a mistake and be covered rather easily.

He struggles in 1v1 situations, which is something Rodgers' system has highlighted. With Johnson and Enrique often in the opposition's third of the pitch, Skrtel is exposed. He lacks pace and his tactical positioning is very poor. Agger is a world class centre-back, but he isn't a great partner in a high line system. He lacks pace as well, but makes up for it in decision making and defensive positioning. He needs to be paired with someone who complements him in that regard. Someone who is tactically equivalent. Skrtel isn't and Agger can't cover for him (see: West Brom, first match of the season).

Carragher was much more successful in the system because of his football IQ. Skrtel will beat him in every physical category, yet Carragher played much better than him.

I would like to see Sterling tomorrow too. Ibe as well.

I do hope Lucas returns to 2011/12 form. He isn't a great tactical fit as is for a 4-3-3, so he needs to be 100% healthy to give him a boost. He had a decent season last year after coming off of a serious injury and playing in a 3-man midfield, something he had never really done. Hopefully we chase Schneiderlein (sp?). I like him a lot.

You know thats a good point. I look at Allen, who, lets be honest, was signed to float between the 10 & 4 to spell both Gerrard and Lucas and even after coming from Swansea he looked confused at times with the formation.

Its pretty obvious that Rodgers didn't have the personnel in place yet in the mid to see his vision of the 4-3-3 through last year.

I think that a healthy Lucas CAN be the pivot 4. We will see. He appears to be healthy and if he can fill that role that will be a huge boon for Liverpool this season.

Ibe!

ETA: I had no idea what he looked like. I was trying to decide if that was Sturridge or Sterling.
