Here's my scorecard from Monday and my friend who played for the first time in 2 years
Capitol Hill Golf Course - The Judge
Orange Tees 71.7 / 131
Me Front 9 54 +5 on hole 4, 1 green in reg, 3 fairways, Back 9 63 11 on #10,8 on #16 par 3, 2 Greens hit, 4 fairways hit. Total 117
Friend Front 9 73 10 on #1, 10 on #6(par3), 15 on #7 Back 9 78 3 10's, 12 on #10, 11 on #15 total 151
If you are truly new to golf you don't know how to get loft on your chips. If there's any elevation, sand or water around the greens you are going to chip over the green or into the sand or into the water constantly because you can't hit your irons onto the greens and you haven't had enough practice to control your chips, or even putts. Not to mention driving OB off the tee box which I still do on a regular basis.
I have a scorecard with a 94 on it, played a round where I never took more than a triple bogey. I know a lot of golfers that play that way and tell me they shoot in the 90's and 80's.

Most amateur rulebooks state that you should pick up at triple bogey :(

Once your score reaches triple bogey, pick up your ball and go to the next hole.
