My cousin owns J Rickard's winery in Sonoma Valley. There Old Vin Zin is fantastic. Small winery, but good people. Open Mon-Sat, 11 to 4.

ETA: J Rickards

Go to Sonoma! Just got back from there. Have friends that were in Napa. Much smaller wineries in Sonoma and much more laid back. Had a blast... Hop Kiln, Hanna, Arista, Moshin and Joseph Phelps just to name a few. Also depends on what type of wine you like, Sonoma specializes in Pinot Noir and Napa does Cabs... Sonoma also has lots of very good whites, made the ol lady actually enjoy some whites for the first time. We used Beau Wine tours.
