Jesus, Garfield is already 30 playing a high school student. I don't know why they don't hire younger actors to play Peter Parker so this doesn't become a problem. He will be 35 by 2018. I can't wait for reboot version 3 where we can see a new spin on how he got his powers in 2020.

Oh, when was that? Hollywood has never really been original.

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say, but Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind were both based on novels. There wasn't a ton on originality in the 1940s classics outside of It's A Wonderful Life.

How can you greenlight 3 and 4 without knowing what 2 will do?? The first one was so so imo. Though I thought Garfield made a better Pete Parker than Maquire. I like the story telling of the ones starring Maquire except for the last one.

Each film has made less and less but it's still very profitable. If they don't make them, Marvel gets the franchise.

The first movie made bank at the box office. Sequels to comic book movies do really well. Look at batman, previous Spider-Man's, and Iron Man. It will most likely do well at the box office. I thought it was a pretty solid movie. But I get your argument. If 2 bombs it will be hard for the networks to fund the next project.

If they greenlit two more movies its a safe bet they have him locked in for those already.

yeah, the world has gone comic book mad. Any movie these days based on a super hero makes a shite ton of money, but I was like they don't know what 2 will do yet. That's really being sure of something. I guess the Jaime Foxx star power guarantees it.

don't know who you're making excuses for, but bullshite. every movie nowadays is a remake, an adaptation or a sequel. WAS this ever done before? of course, but not to this degree.

hollywood is more incestuous, vacant and bereft of originality than it has ever been. they aint got shite, and the opening weekend is all that matters now.

the 1939 Wizard of Oz was a remake brah. It was the 4th version made since 1910. Hollywood is the same as it ever was.

Did I say that Hollywood today is original, or that it's more original today compared to the past? No. All I'm saying is that it's never been particularly original.

doing "safe" pictures for money has always been a staple of hollywood, but the level at which it's done now is off the charts. you could say that the economy is one cause for it, safe pictures being the only thing anyone wants to risk their career over, but the lack of originality or "art" as it was once called is greater than ever.

the big super hero movies will kill at the box office for a long time, but after a while, all the pretty cgi and explosions in the world willbecome just one giant blur.

fortunately for them, people are getting exponentially dumber, so eventually, there might not be anyone left who knows what originality and genuine creativity are. the "artists" in hollywood certainly don't.

At least people have been getting tired of the same thing (Hangover 3). If that movie did great, there is no doubt there would have been a 4th.
