Depends, I went to Southeastern for a year then couldn't afford it anymore. Now im working in the Oil field in Port Fourchon making 60k a year. I think that if you go to school, school wont prepare you as well for hands on experience so to say in the Oilfield I mean. so I would say go to college if not majoring in oilfield related practices. (other than maybe safety, another story)

College degree and then working in the field will get you far. Just going straight into the field, you'll probably be there for the rest of your career. Its a life some people don't mind and that's great for them, but I couldn't do it. I have friends who have business degrees doing it for the experience to get office jobs.
