Which sport is eliminated first: Football or horse racing?

The concussion thing will catch up to football eventually.
But people care more about animals than they do about people so maybe horse racing goes first.

As long as dogs are being abused, Sarah McLachlan and the animal rights activists will put horsies on the back burner.

I never really thought of them as horsejockeys.

Of all the things that would potentially anger people I never would have figured "liking/caring for animals" would have ranked so high.
To be fair, that result could just be a skewed effect of the TD bubble, though.

I had some friends go to the Kentucky derby and they said it was the most fun they have had at a sporting event

The Arabs love horse racing, and camel racing for that matter.
I'm grew up in the Virginia horse country. It's critical to the local economy, it defines our culture. I can't see a scenario where it's banned, at least not on the state level.
Will Washington step in? I don't think so. It's such a niche issue and the voters who care about it, well the Democrats already get their support anyway. Federalism also makes it more difficult, small conservative states are overrepresented (proportionally) and that makes any changes much less likely.

I'm worried about the future of football. The physics behind concussions are pretty fixed. You can build a slightly better helmet, but there's no way to actually prevent the brain shear when the head decelerates rapidly.
We'll have better treatments for TBI in the future but we'll never be able to restore full functionality after a head injury.
