I agree too! I've been arguing this point for a few years now. Every since my son was in 7th grade and I started taking him to camps. In my opinion everything should be based on the kids birth date! Not his classification. Saying he's a freshman, soph, jr, doesn't say how old he is! Basically in high school most kids start the 9th grade at 14yrs old and finish the 12th grade at 18 yrs old. If their age is used it will expose some these coaches and parents that are holding these kids back for athletics! Then we will see that instead of being this phenom that he appears to be at 15 in the 10th grade, he's actually 17 in the 10th grade! Anyone that argues that 2 years doesn't make a big difference in the maturity of an athlete is sadly mistaken!

unfortunately the majority don't realize what is happening...... heck.. that good soph lineman ya'll have is young enough to be an 8th grader at some schools...

My son has always been one of the youngest (if not THE youngest) on the field at his classification. Even when he played youth football, he was one of the biggest but still one of the youngest. And I MADE him play up with the 9 and 10 yr olds when he had just turned 8 because of his size! He will be a senior this year, but he will just turn 17 next week! He will still be 17 when he graduates and reports to college! I know a bunch of kids at various schools who are a year older than him and a grade less than him! But everyone talks about how great they are! Sorry, I know I'm in the minority on this, but I say publicize their age along with their classification so we get the true picture of their feats!
