quote:I agree too! I've been arguing this point for a few years now. Every since my son was in 7th grade and I started taking him to camps. In my opinion everything should be based on the kids birth date! Not his classification. Saying he's a freshman, soph, jr, doesn't say how old he is! Basically in high school most kids start the 9th grade at 14yrs old and finish the 12th grade at 18 yrs old. If their age is used it will expose some these coaches and parents that are holding these kids back for athletics! Then we will see that instead of being this phenom that he appears to be at 15 in the 10th grade, he's actually 17 in the 10th grade! Anyone that argues that 2 years doesn't make a big difference in the maturity of an athlete is sadly mistaken!
agree on hold backs.. the clock should start ticking in your legal age for K.. and just roll from there...

unfortunately the majority don't realize what is happening...... heck.. that good soph lineman ya'll have is young enough to be an 8th grader at some schools...

wildman, we have to be a little careful-they might want this to be our starting QB's last year.
It was interesting when my oldest started against Curtis in the playoffs his Junior year. He was 6 months away from reaching 17, and playing against kids MUCH older than he was. And at that age, maturity means so much. Not just having had the extra time working out and adding weight, but in mental toughness too.
