Glad too see someone giving the oracle games some love

Minish cap was a solid Zelda as well

1 OOT
2 ALTTP
3 Wind Waker
4 MM
5 TP
6 Links Awakening
7 SS
8 Oracle Games

The rest are about the same with minis cap and spirit tracks standing out

You really can't go wrong with any game to be honest

Prepare for butt raping on putting Twilight Princess above Majora's Mask, but imo 1-3 are interchangeable. I love them all and on any given day my favorite out of those 3 could change.
That's really how I feel, but I consider OoT to be the best simply because the storyline in that game to be the groundwork for why the Zelda series is so good in the first place.

I notice the same thing with Skyward Sword, it's ranked low on lists or not even ranked at all.
Because it's garbage. They were on a great track with TP then they completely switch gears with SS. All of the most successful Zelda games have had the darker look and storyline. OoT, MM, and TP all had the darker cell shading and the more mature story. Then they completely go in a different direction with SS. It makes zero sense. I didn't even finish SS because the story was so boring thru the first 2-3 hours of the game. Very disappointed.

TP was looked at negatively for being dark.
Never thought that way. I instantly loved it because it was the first Zelda game since MM that reminded me of the OoT/MM playstyle/feel.

Gameplay was a little too "playful" and most didn't enjoy the change in more "accurate mechanics".

Gameplay had some frustrating moments. Fi makes Navi look lovable. I was constantly reminded that I had found some random crafting item despite the fact that I had already seen it dozens of times (and been told about it in detail each time). The overworld was disconnected and flying sucked.

The story was good though. I really enjoyed the story of SS, I just found the minor game play issues to be just distracting enough to prevent me from loving the game as much as others. It was like going and seeing an incredibly amazing movie, but you had a headache the entire time. Not to mention Groose is up there as one of my favorite characters from the series.

Skyward sword was way too linear IMO

This was by far one of my biggest problems with the game. It was so restricted that it didn't feel like a Zelda game to me. So much restraint on the "open world" of Zelda made it feel like it wasn't a part of the series.

This is one of the reasons I think Wind Waker worked so well. I had a lot of fun discovering little islands and secrets scattered around the world. The over world should have been a bit smaller and the sailing a little easier / engaging, but it gave me that feeling of being the only player to discover a particular place.

When you are playing a series who's defining characteristics have been exploration and adventure, being herded down the same exact path in basically the same order that every other player goes down removes something special from the experience.

Majora's mask
OoT
Windwaker
Oracle of ages/seasons (burned countless hours on these two)

Those were the only ones I logged serious time on. Windwaker doesn't get nearly enough credit.

I enjoyed it, it's just that the other games in the series are so damn good that it gets overlooked. Windwaker was by no means a bad game, it's just that Zelda has an insanely high bar set for itself. Skyward Sword on the other hand sucked arse.

The absolute worst travel method was in Spirit Tracks. It's the only Zelda game I haven't finished. That's how annoying it was

Not gonna lie, I had somewhere around zero confidence in enjoying it because of the graphics when I first saw the box.

Lo and behold about 10 minutes into it I was glued.

I really wish my brother hadn't destroyed his gamecube. Windwaker and metroid prime were two of the best gaming experiences I've had.

OoT takes the cake by a long shot for sheer experience. My neighbor had the strategy book for majora's mask. I used it

Ruined such an incredible game for myself.

I didn't even bother getting Spirit Tracks. But then again I'm not big on the handhelds. The only one I've played is Oracle of Ages. Didn't finish it. The only console Zelda I've ever played and never finished was Skyward Sword.

1) Majora's Mask
2) A Link to the Past
3) Ocarina of Time
4) Skyward Sword
5) The Wind Waker
6) Minish Cap
7) Twilight Princess (Ganon as the final boss was a fricking cop-out)
8) The Legend of Zelda

Those are the only one's I've played.

4 years ago it would have been crazy talk to say that Majora's Mask was better than Ocarina of Time, but I think that when it came onto the virtual console and people rediscovered the game, I think many were surprised on how incredibly well the game aged and how ridiculously dark, depressing, and apocalyptic it is. It's what makes it my number one. Only a remake of Majora's Mask could ever possibly compete with it's apocalyptic feel.
