based on this graph?

i can honestly see by 2038 USA being similar to the state that the UK was in in V for Vendetta. someone on reddit said Detroit is right on track for RoboCop.

Out of all those films A.I seems like a reasonable possibility.

12 Monkeys but I hope it's not in the same time frame.

Of the one's for the next 20-30 years, Robocop seems the most plausible. Once you start getting 80 years or more into the future there really is no telling. Who knows what paradigm shifting invention or catastrophe will happen in that period of time?

Like the title said on Reddit. Detroit is right on target for Robocop to happen.

The question is, does the government now have the tools to make the ED-209 able to go down steps?

due to the current political climate and lack of outrageous advances in technology in the movie, I'd say V for Vendetta

Gattaca and Idiocracy seem like the most likely near future SciFi films to come true.

Idiocracy is 50 years away from happening. That movie was written by Nostradamus.

Idiocracy was a fun concept. I think it's popular to pick for this topic because it is an ego massage. "I'm smarter than everyone around me. The world is over run with idiots." It really isn't plausible at all though. At some point people will need to survive, and that will require some sort of skills or talent.

Have you not seen the advances they're making in robotics and machine intelligence? Most of us will be out of a job in 50 years unless we become cyborgs to beat out the machines.
