Even with poor attendance, if the MLB ever considers contraction I can't see them contracting Miami after building their new stadium. The Rays and Athletics are the only teams with poor stadium situations right now.

Weren't they in the playoffs this year and still couldn't sell out the place? I'm not completely sure since I don't follow the NBA that much, but I thought I remembered seeing that.

There was an article out yesterday that Phoenix is most likely going to relocate this summer and Seattle is the destination in mind. They'd play in the Key Arena until an NBA arena is built. Not sure I believe that yet though. LINK

If they built a winning team, it'd sell out. We got fricked by the shortened season this year.

Both original franchises, no chance for contraction, ever.

Funny question because the next round of labor agreements will probably be tilted less toward the players, meaning expansion is somewhat likely in all four leagues in the next 15 years since it will be cheaper to run a team.

frick expansion. every city that has deserved a team has had their chance. its bad enough all the major markets are filled, you have to go into a smaller city and sell a new team with no tradition. its a tough sell. OKC was a perfect storm scenario- at first they were thrilled to have a team, but then they turned into a conference power. teams wont be as widely accepted as the thunder have been in OKC. theyre the outlier.

Agree for now, but I think football and baseball could pull off expansion right now.

The next round of labor agreements will make it cheaper to run a team, and thanks to tv becoming amazingly awesome, the next round of stadiums and arenas will be smaller. Less money required to run a team + less ticket sales required to stay viable = expansion.
