Was I the only one disappointed in how they showed the flashbacks? I liked the content itself but I felt they tried too hard to be like Lost. It would have been so much better if they showed him growing up after his craft landed. When they jumped 33 years to him on the boat I was like WTF.

She looks gorgeous on the red carpet promoting the film but off in the movie. I don't know if she still had her baby fat or not. You could definitely tell she just had a baby in The Muppets.

Puffy.

But it completely disavows how his mother said he was affected as a child, and how Supe was totally debilitated by Krypton's atmosphere.

Zod shouldn't go from asthmatic to Superman equal, only to having his neck snapped as if he were a twig

Oh, no doubt. I love Amy Adams but couldn't stand her character in this.

What's wrong with that?

The whole Krypton imagery and destruction straight out of Star Trek

Not really, it was more of a generic advanced alien society.

quote:

That it took years for Clark to master superpowers, yet Zod did it in 24 hours

Superpowers for Kryptonians take time to manifest and get to full strength. So essentially yes, Clark had to wait until he was an adult to fully master his superpowers. So naturally since Zod was already an adult when arrived on earth, it was no problem for him.

The show smallville was based around this concept. Clark didn't learn to fly until the series finale.

quote:

The death of Jonathan Kent. He raised his son to be there for the world, but he was willing to abandon his own wife, just so Clark could keep his secret a few years longer

That's what any good parent would do. The child comes before the spouse.

quote:

The ease of snapping Zods neck, vs the fight with the girl and the big guy was a stalemate until she was hit by a manmade weapon

Two superpowered kryptonians fighting is like two human beings fighting each other. I thought that concept would be easy to understand.

quote:

The illogical destruction of Smallville and Metropolis. Super was indoctrinated to not allow that to happen

Actually destruction like that happens on the reg in the comics and cartoons so it's par for the course.

quote:

The whole Jor-el communication abilities. Creepy

What's creepy about it? I thought it was pretty damn good. I just wish Lara was a hologram as well so Kal-El could meet his mother as well.

quote:

The whole Perry White storyline?

What? You racist or something?

quote:

Lois falling for Clark first, before he was Super

This movie is supposed to be something new for a new generation and I don't mind it at all.

Put simply, you don't know shite about Superman or have even basic comic book knowledge.

This critique is really a reach. It's not hard to understand. They're effected by crashing into buildings or having an oil rig crash on top of them but they're so strong it's just like a strong punch to you or I. To each other, their strengths equal out and they can inflict the equivalent damage.

Uh, you missed the whole point.

The girl and big guy weren't super powered. They were in protective suits!!!

And Supe couldn't dent either suit with his superpowers, yet a piece of man made metal can knock her suit offline and render her helpless, which ends the destruction of Smallville

And yet when the big guy is smashed into a train, at a higher velocity than the bullet, with a ton more metal than the bullet, his suit is not even dented

Biggest load of shite in any movie I've seen in a long while.

I get that, but if you're going to create a world outside of known physics, at least let your world physics be consistent.

Superman taking some time to become super shouldn't equal Zod doing it in 24 hours

Faoros suit becoming obsolete because of a manmade bullet, should deteriorate when struck by Superman

I mean, c'mon, Lois Lane did more damage to Krypton bad guys in their suits than Superman did. Do you really believe that shite?

For the sake of argument:

Superman was adjusting to the change in atmosphere and physiology as an infant, while Zod was fully grown as was his immune system. Do you have intimate knowledge of Kryptonian physiology and its immune responses? Why should Kal-El be able to adjust to a Kryptonian environment in a day but not the reverse for Zod? Faora's suit was beaten down and damaged by Supes as it was already proven bullets had no effect. And a side note: I don't believe this shite because it is not real, simply a fantastic fictional tale about a comic book character that I enjoyed despite some very small inconsistencies. Get a grip dude.

Shouldn't everyone know the real identity of Superman now anyway?

I mean Zod and his crew went to Smallville, went to Superman's mom's house, then Superman shows up. Military shows up, big battle, Smallville turned into Destructionville.

They should, at the least know which city he comes from. Heck he even says he's from Kansas. If they go to Smallville they surely could ask around and figure out that it's Clark.

Still not sure how Lois figured out he was from Smallville. If he left Smallville, goes to, lets say California 1st, and fakes his application for a job then how does she go there and figure out he was from Smallville?

I was more shocked that an advanced race used a flying creature than some type of hopper ship to move around on their planet. It would be like us going back to riding horses when we have cars.

quote:

The whole Krypton imagery and destruction straight out of Star Trek

didn't bother me in the slightest. I thought it was a bit dark for my vision of what Kypton would have been but that was the tone of the movie.

quote:

That it took years for Clark to master superpowers, yet Zod did it in 24 hours

Bred warrior that has honed senses and skills versus a growing boy. Not sure why you are nitpicking on this one.

quote:

The death of Jonathan Kent. He raised his son to be there for the world, but he was willing to abandon his own wife, just so Clark could keep his secret a few years longer

I would imagine that any good father that gives a shite about their son would do the same.

quote:

The ease of snapping Zods neck, vs the fight with the girl and the big guy was a stalemate until she was hit by a manmade weapon

Like has been stated, they are on equal ground when fighting each other. Superman and Zod can punch through a wall so Superman/Zod strength > building/wall construction.

quote:

The illogical destruction of Smallville and Metropolis. Super was indoctrinated to not allow that to happen

Reason why you would move but to where? Gotham? They have a lot of looney mother frickers there too.

quote:

The whole Jor-el communication abilities. Creepy

That seems to be a standing thing in the movies and comics, Jor-Els image to help teach and guide Superman.

quote:

The whole Perry White storyline?

I agree. Perry really brought nothing to the story in my opinion and could have been played by any actor.

quote:

Lois falling for Clark first, before he was Super

I don't see this as so though. She knew he was different with abilities after tracking down all the myths and stories by the time she found him.

All of this aside, if DC wanted to move towards a Justice League movie this was a perfect time to at least show Gotham in the same universe as Metropolis/Smallville. When they were panning around the country and world, they could have easily mentioned Gotham in passing to at least acknowledge it like Iron Man did with the Captain America shield in IM2.

Id say having a satellite with "Wayne Enterprises" accomplished that clearly
