Since we've been doing this for a few years, I'll answer some of the issues that were brought up. Sorry if its long, this format is so much fun so I like to share what I know about it so other can enjoy as well.

You'll never find 10 guys that your friends with that want to play basketball and baseball

We have 12 people. The turnover hasn't been terrible. We've had about 4 or 5 people quit over 3 years, most of which were friend of a friend types.

Of the 12 people, about 8 seriously try to win overall every year. Everyone tries to win football, of course. The competition for baseball and basketball is significantly lower, but one or two of the ones who don't care will have a good draft and provide some extra competition every year.

Very cool idea. Would require A LOT of record keeping, but if you had an organized commish, it would be fun.

Its really not as bad as it seems. Everyone polices themselves pretty well on all of the keepers and such. We just have a google doc for keepers and a google doc for the standings (which are auto-generated with a fairly easy formula that can be copied from year to year. Do it once and forget about it). Outside of that there's really not much to keep up with. We even have a tab for Overall Standings for the years that we've been doing it (yours truly is currently in first by a narrow margin).

Sounds like a cool idea, but what's to keep someone from tanking in one sport to wreck another one if you can trade cross platforms?

75% of the roster keeper's will also mean a lot of people dropping out I'd imagine. That's a ton of fricking players.

That's exactly why we don't have those two rules. If we had that, a bunch of people would trade everything they have in baseball and basketball for draft cash in football because that's all they really care about.

We also limit our keepers to 5 (2 for football). Keeps people eager to get the best keepers. It also doesn't completely bury you if you have bad keepers. I had so-so keepers in baseball this year and decided to rebuild...turned my keepers into Davis, Gomez, Machado, Shelby Miller, and Puig (hopefully he keeps it up) which will only cost me about $19.

Good lord. My wife would divorce the shite out of me.

It is usually a particular point of contention between us.

I just have to make a point not to check scores while we're out at dinner or with her family and I'm fine
