They need to just let it go. It's better to not have a sequel.

Where did you read that? Link you posted just said that WB passed on the entire film, not the specific actors. The writers are now shopping for a new studio. At least, that's what I read.

This. A lot of people don't read the article if you put information in your post. Try to make sure it's accurate

No shite. This is what the article says:
quote:

Writer-directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly will have to look elsewhere in continuing the misadventures of Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey), as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that WB passed on giving the greenlight to "Dumb and Dumber To," the long in-development sequel to the 1994 hit comedy.

So they're apparently still in the roles, just looking for a studio.

Also, what a horribly-written article. It says this:
quote:

Carrey, a box office powerhouse who could command $20 million per film back in the '90s and early '00s, has been having a rough time of it lately. His last starring vehicle was "Mr. Popper's Penguins," which was released two years ago this month and only earned $68 million domestic on a budget of $55 million.

He has been in literally one movie since Mr. Popper's Penguins (Burt Wonderstone). While that was a bit of a flop, it's one movie. Not to mention that MPP grossed $187 million worldwide. He simply hasn't been doing much lately (a few TV shows mostly)...it's not like his "star power" is fading and he's had bomb after bomb.

Without a doubt dumb and dumber is the most overrated movie discussed on this board.

I'm having trouble believing a studio wouldn't be interested in the sequel. I could see having trouble getting the talent back on the same page but it'd be gold for the studio.

As the article mentions, it has been almost 20 years. They may have waited this one out too long. Dumb and Dumberer in 2003 was just a fricking horrible idea and threw a funk in things. That being said, I want a sequel. Bring it.

Also, thread title sucks.

yeah I mean the sequel would have done better in 2003 when they made the shitty prequel and I'm not exactly sure what all goes into financing these movies. But still, if you could have the farrely's and Carrey/Daniels back for a 30 million budget that sounds like a gold mine. So many people grew up on that movie. They're majorly underestimating the draw a real sequel would still have.

I enjoyed it but now that we're pushing close to twenty years later I can't really see the demand to get the old gang back together and checking in on Lloyd and Harry again.

His pro gun control video seems to have backfired. I will never pay another dime to see another one of his movies.

Hopefully this will never happen. Especially with other actors.
