re: Negotiating pay. Got a offer but it's kind of low

I understand. Well she told me to think about it and call her back to let her know. I think she can tell I wasn't thrilled with the pay through the phone. She just said don't count them out as of yet. I'm ok with taking a step back to move forward and be a little more comfortable after 6 months but that's really struggling for a big city. I'm thinking of waiting til Friday and then giving them a call and asking to be closer to 40. what do you think? or how should my game plan be?

Only you can truly make that decision. You have to do what's best for you and what feels right.

I think she means what should her counter offer be.
I would just be honest and say I can move there at 40k.
See what happens!

If $40K is the number, she'll need to ask for more. There's going to be some give and take in the negotiation process.

yea I don't think 2500 would be that significant for them but who knows.
They usually hire recent college grads so they go through this training but they really liked me in both interviews. so I think i'll just let it simmer for a couple days or move on.
I'm seriously just thinking of moving to Houston without a job and saying frick it, I'll find one when I get there.

Will- she did say that the pay is what all new trainees get and she can't really move on that. Do you think there is ever a concrete number?
They do acknowledge that I have experience and I did tell them that it is a significant decrease in $$. I think i'll just look for another job. It's hard to go to interviews when I work/live in Nola right now. hence the move to Houston and see how it goes plan.

Always better to have a job when searching for another job.

My company pays more than what you're interviewing for. But I'll need pics.

I say the same thing to all of my candidates as well. The good ones know that's not true and ask for a higher base. I truly appreciate that.

We'll talk about the dirty ones through e-mail. And yes, that's actually my e-mail address.

I work for a valve manufacturer in Houston and we are looking to hire for a few sales positions right now. I know a sales associate and a regional sales manager.

She said she would work with you. Here's another alternative. B/c of your experience and standard of living (and bills), you need $43,000 and you will pick up the relo costs.
I Love Bama will load your truck in NOLA.

Let's break it down:
Looks like they're paying $35/hour for training. That can't be terrible if you're not selling, right?
I would be more of a stickler on this.
Ask for more money on the relocation - that's one-time money to them, and usually comes out of a different funding source. If they are able to double that, that probably solves your training issue (would be about a 6% kick over your 6 months at $35/hour).
Then you have to decide on how much of a bump you need after training - and just be honest and ask for it. When they reject or counter, you'll have to make the choice then.

I was looking for a bit more in the salary after training as well.

No it's 17 a hour bc that 37500 is annual pay. 45 hrs a week. 3 months in warehouse

Take the job and get to Houston where you want to be (or Dallas). It's impossible to interview out of state. I did it for over a year before I took a job. I took the first job offered to me, it got me to Virginia and then I bailed after 8 months with the company. Dick move, but I knew it wouldn't be a good fit before I moved, but took it anyway. Now I've been with my current employer here for over 2 years, been promoted and making over $50k more than I did in Baton Rouge doing same thing.
Get to Texas however you can and start interviewing immediately. Just have a good story in hand for interview as to why you're ditching the new company so quickly (horrible for or over promised during interview always seems to work).

Thanks im4datigers. I'm thinking about taking the offer just to get to Texas as well. But I'm weighing out some other options too.
