If he gives us 6 in game 1 can we come back with him in game 3 and then possible game 2 or 3 in finals? Assuming we stay in winners bracket.

Ranaudo started games 1 and 3 to get us into championship series and then started game 3 vs. Texas. 6 days b/w starts 1 and 2 and 5 days b/w starts 2 and 3. Ranaudo did only get us to the 4th vs. UVA in game 1 though.

Anything Ranaudo did Nola can do better.

He will pitch three. Opener in round one, a semi-final game and one of the three championship games...just depends how the games unfold...

Best case scenario would be...

Game 1 v. UCLA: Nola (win)
Game 2 v. NCST/USCe/UNC: Eades/Glenn (win)
Game 3 v. whomever: Eades/Glenn (win)

Game 1 of championship series: Nola

So 2 if we don't lose before the championship series.

However, if we were to lose in game 2 or 3, I would bet that Nola would be called on the stave off elimination.

Nola will pitch Sunday in the first game.

Nola will pitch Friday to either clinch the bracket or to avoid elimination and force the "if" game on Saturday

Nola will then pitch most likely in Game 2 of the championship series on Tuesday on 3 days rest.

If it were me:

Game 1: Nola (Sunday)
Game 2: Glenn (Tuesday)
Game 3/4 : Eades (if its a Thursday)
Game 3/4: Nola (if its a Friday)
Game 5: Bonvillain (Saturday)
Game 1 of CWS Finals: Glenn (Monday)
Game 2 of CWS Finals: Nola (If lose game 1)
Game 2 of CWS Finals: Eades (If win game 1)
Game 3 of CWS Finals: Nola (If necessary)

Ranaudo had 5 days between the first two games and 4 days between the 2nd and 3rd.

I assume Mainieri would play it the same way with Nola, but a few things are different that could affect his decision:
1. Our first game is Sunday so it takes one extra day of rest off the top.
2. He probably feels more confident in his 3rd or 4th option this year than he did in 09, but not as confident in his 2nd option as 09.
3. We have a deeper bullpen than we did in 09.

Nola doesn't go 6. He goes 9.
